CDMCS Ergonomic Principles

Ergonomics is the study of how human beings interface with the workplace. Specifically, it involves the design of equipment, devices and methods we use at work, as well as the work environment itself.  It takes into account not only how tools and machines are made but also how we as humans are made, how we move, and how we interact with our environment.  The overall goal of ergonomics is to reduce risk factors and design job tasks to minimize the stress on the human body, ultimately improving job efficiency and productivity.

CDMCS Hand Safety Training

Hand injuries are the second most common injury on the job only surpassed by back and soft tissue injuries. Working on dredges and support vessels in the dredging industry pose special risks for hand injuries. From machinery and equipment, lines and cables, to tools, chemicals, and pinch points, hand hazards can be found in most every corner and space on a dredge and at marine construction sites.

However, all hand injuries are preventable with the right knowledge and the proper actions. Our awareness-level program showcases the many hand hazards present in the dredging and marine construction environment and how to prevent them.
